Ginga Nagareboshi Gin Gashapon 銀牙 流れ星 銀 ガシャポン
Gashapon collectible capsule toys, made by Bandai in 1986.
Pictured: A complete set of 12 (some duplicates to show colour variation), 12 Tags and 7 original capsules.
Note: the tags aren’t to scale with the figures.
In GNG these Gashapon figures come in two series. This is Series 1, and the same range of figures have a larger version that they sometimes get confused with (referred to normally as ‘Series 1, Large’). You can tell whether the figure is from the Gashapon set by looking at the stamped trademark on the back - the large figures (called Keshi) are stamped with ©T/S·T·T. The small Gashapon series is stamped with a ‘B’ underneath, ©T/S·T·T B
Each capsule contains a figure and a tag detailing the characters to collect. The figures come in a range of 4 colours - Light brown, Silver, Bronze/Gold, and White - though it’s not clear whether the colours have any significance as the idea is to paint them as shown on the tag. Each tag is also batch-stamped by number (ie there are duplicates of the same number in many cases, which means more than one figure was made at the same time, therefore were batched).
Characters to collect:
Gin, Ben, Riki, Musashi, John, Moss, Kurotora, Cross, Oliver, Sniper, Akakabuto A and “Surprise” figure, Akakabuto B.
